The 59th Montgomery Assembly Holiday Dance

The 59th Annual Montgomery Assembly Holiday Dance was held on December 27, 2019. The Dance was held at the RSA Activities Center. Over five hundred students were in attendance for the special occasion. The dance is for high school students in ninth through twelfth grades. There were thirty-three new members and twenty-nine seniors. These Honorees and Seniors were presented in a Lead Out Presentation during the formal celebration.

The RSA Activities Center was transformed into a Festively decorated dance hall with dazzling metallic golds, silvers and winter white balloon sculptures and cascading, glittering lights that were covering the entire back wall of the room, as well as Twinkle lit balloons that adorned the tables throughout the room. The lead out presentation was held on a stage where the Montgomery Assembly’s beautiful crest of flags banner filled the backdrop all surrounded by a whimsically designed sculptural balloon display. The enormously, talented Stephanie Easterling, owner of Wildflowers in Fairhope, Alabama lended her expertise along with the decorating committee to create all of the Fabulous Decor.

Another photograph area for the attendees with was set up with a step and repeat design incorporating the Montgomery Assembly’s logo framed by an additional balloon sculptured arch. The attendees enjoyed taking many fun selfies and candid shots throughout the evening in this area. A delectable Candy Bar lined the entire back wall of the room and Sparkled under the twinkling lights!

Honorees and their guests danced the night away to the Fabulous Park Band from Troy, Alabama. The Park Band is Alabama’s cover band known for amazing vocals, unforgettable harmonica, incredible guitar riffs and a hard-hitting rhythm section. With their energetic performances, they bring fun and excitement everywhere they go! And, such was the case for The Montgomery Assembly’s enchanting evening!

An essential part of The Montgomery Assembly’s purpose is teaching young members how to display appropriate social etiquette with their peers and escorts in a formal setting. Many attendees enjoyed special dinners in family homes, group and grade dinners and as a very special treat, Dr. And Mrs. Steve Davidson hosted The Montgomery Academy ninth grade honorees, their dates and guests to a wonderful dinner at the Capital City Club, complete with an acoustic 3-piece band prior to the dance.
