Catholic 3, Auburn 1

Catholic won the first two sets and defeated the 7A Tigers in four sets (25-11, 25-20, 19-25 and 25-15) in the Catholic gym on Thursday night.

Lennon McAnnally had 14 kills, 22 passes, nine digs and two aces to defeat the Tigers, while Allyse Rudolph had 13 kills, four blocks, 15 passes, nine digs and an ace. Senior Julienne Pharrams had five kills and seven blocks, while freshman Harper Howell added six kills and four blocks. Libero Mally Barranco anchored the back row with 17 passes, five digs, an ace and a kill. Setters Audrey Trant (47 assists and eight digs) and Maria Schwarz (38 assists, three blocks and two kills) ran the offense.

Catholic (20-4) travels to Auburn this weekend to compete in Auburn High’s First Serve Tournament.

Macon East Academy 3, Lee-Scott Academy 1

AUBURN -- Sarah Cochran had 13 aces, six kills, a block and a dig, Maddie Ross had an ace, nine kills and three digs and Kylee Smith had 15 digs to lead the Knights past the Warriors in the Lee-Scott gym on Thursday night.

Montgomery Academy 3, LAMP 2

The Eagles dropped the first two sets, 23-25 and 21-25, before rallying to take the next three (25-18, 25-16 and 15-6) in a closely contested 4A Area 3 win over LAMP in the Golden Tigers gym on Thursday.

Addi Vinson had 50 assists, 12 digs, three kills and five blocks to lead Montgomery Academy, while Elle McBride had 20 kills and 15 digs, Caroline McDaniel had 17 kills and six blocks and Virginia Meacham had 11 kills, 12 blocks and nine digs. Avery Arden Pemberton had 27 digs for the Eagles.

Montgomery Academy (12-5) improved to 2-0 in area play and will play host to Thompson next Thursday at Joe Mooty Court.

Alabama Christian 3, Elmore County 2

ECLECTIC -- Alabama Christian withstood a furious rally by the Panthers before winning the fifth set to take a 3-2 win in the Elmore County gym on Thursday.

ACA won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-19, before Elmore County rallied to even the match with wins of 25-23 and 25-21. ACA bounced back to win the decisive set 15-8.

For ACA, Paige Henry had 18 kills and eight aces, Claire Forrester had nine kills and four aces, Cayla Schofield had 10 kills and eight blocks, Ella Weed had nine kills and nine blocks and Lynleigh Stephen had 12 digs.

ACA travels to Auburn this weekend to compete in Auburn High’s First Serve Tournament.

Pike Road 3, Beauregard 0

BEAUREGARD -- The Patriots bounced back from Tuesday’s disappointing area loss to Brew Tech with a closely contested win at Beauregard in 5A Area 5 play on Thursday.

Pike Road (6-2) defeated Beauregard 25-18, 25-18 and 27-25 to even its area record at 1-1 heading into Tuesday’s area contest at home against Tallassee.

For the Patriots, Emmy Pierce had 10 digs and a pair of aces, Allie Lovrich had 10 kills, seven digs and two aces, Gracie Branham had eight kills and eight digs, Emma Grace Mesaris had six kills, four aces and three digs and Rylie Fureigh had 12 assists and three aces.

St. James 3, Park Crossing 0

The Trojans remained unbeaten in 6A Area 3, sweeping Park Crossing in three sets, 25-4, 25-7 and 25-10 in the Thunderbirds’ gym on Thursday.

“The girls continue to play with consistency,” St. James coach Karen Lee said. “We want to keep that momentum going as we enter the heart of our area competition.”

St. James (11-8) improves to 3-0 in area play and will host a junior varsity tournament at the school on Saturday. The varsity returns to action on Monday at Prattville before resuming area play on Tuesday afternoon at Sidney Lanier.
