Montgomery Academy cruised to an area win over Prattville Christian in the Montgomery Academy gym on Thursday.
For Montgomery Academy, Millie Stevenson had 27 assists and five digs, Ann Cobern Chapman had nine kills and a pair of blocks, Mary Gray Turner had nine kills and Anaya Thomas had nine kills and a block.
For Prattville Christian, Jacey Haynes had four kills and a block, Hannah Jones had four kills, Lennon McAnnally had five kills and seven digs, Julie Lawrence had nine assists and a kill, Jamie Johnson had seven assists and a pair of kills, Victoria Wheeler had a kill and a block and Emily Kamykowski had seven digs and an ace.
Prattville Christian (15-11) hosts a tournament on Saturday. Montgomery Academy (30-5) plays host to Prattville on Tuesday.
Alabama Christian Academy 9-25-15-26-15, LAMP 25-21-25-24-13
Alabama Christian took a hard-fought area victory over the Golden Tigers in the LAMP gym on Thursday, bouncing back from a 2-1 deficit with 26-24 and 15-13 wins.
Emily Thornton had 21 assists, while Jordan Smithee and Monica Willingham each had 13 kills. Alyson Thornton had eight kills and 19 assists.
For LAMP, Alex Cyr had 13 kills, seven aces and 10 digs, Claire Conway had 10 kills, an ace, a pair of blocks, 14 digs and two assists and Grace Hoffman had five kills, two aces, 14 digs and 24 assists. Olivia Hughes had 12 kills, four aces, two blocks, two digs and two assists, Gracey Norris had four kills and four digs, Anika Clark had six digs and 15 assists, Lexie Howard had six digs and Annabel Baker had 11 digs.
LAMP will participate in a tournament at Prattville Christian on Saturday, while Alabama Christian will play host to St. James on Monday.
Catholic 3, Trinity 2
Catholic defeated Trinity last night at PICE Arena in another five-set thriller, improving the Knights’ area record to 3-1 with road trips to LAMP and Alabama Christian remaining. For the second time in the regular season, the Catholic-Trinity battle was a non-stop thriller as the two teams have now matched wins (1-1), sets (5-5) and points (212-212).
For Catholic, senior middle Ansley Dean had 26 kills, 11 blocks, 18 digs and two aces, senior setter Katherine O'Connor had 38 assists, 12 digs, two blocks and a pair of kills, senior outside hitter Meaghan Pineda had 20 digs and two blocks and sophomore Julienne Pharrams had nine kills and four blocks.
St. James 25-25-21-17-11, Tallassee 10-18-25-25-15
St. James took a quick 2-0 lead but couldn’t hold it, dropping an area match to Tallassee in five sets on Thursday.
For the Trojans, Mary Julian Setzer had nine kills, three blocks, three assists and four digs, Morgan Parish had four aces, two kills and 26 digs, Shelby Rosenberg had an assist and a pair of digs, Hannah Grace Griggs had three aces, a kill, an assist and 35 digs, Merrily Capouya had an ace, 10 kills, three assists and 31 digs, Lily Foley had an assist, a kill, 44 assists and 14 digs, Ellie Streeton had two kills, an assist and five digs, Danielle Greene had 18 kills, four blocks, three assists and a dig, Quintoria Warren had seven kills, three blocks, three assists and a pair of digs and Makenzie Corley had an assist and 11 digs.
St. James travels to Alabama Christian Academy on Monday.

LAMP defeated Sidney Lanier in three sets at Walker-Joiner Gym on Tuesday.
For the Golden Tigers, Claire Conway had four kills, Anika Clark had four digs and 16 assists, Annabel Baker had seven digs, Peyton Cely had three digs, Chandler Gaskin had three kills and a block, Gracey Norris had four kills and a pair of digs, Olivia Hughes had 11 kills and a block, Grace Hoffman had three kills, two aces and nine assists and Kenady Manigo had four kills.
Prattville Christian 25-25-23-25, Trinity 16-19-25-22
Prattville Christian defeated Trinity in four sets on Tuesday, bouncing back from a 25-23 loss to defeat the Wildcats 25-22 in the final set.
For the Panthers (15-10), Jacey Haynes had eight kills and a pair of digs, Lennon McAnnally had 12 kills, six digs and three aces, Julie Lawrence had 19 assists, five kills, an ace and five digs, Jamie Johnson had 13 assists, eight kills and four aces, Victoria Wheeler had five kills and four blocks, Hannah Jones had four kills and a pair of blocks, Emily Kamykowski had three aces and 14 digs and Sydney Jorgensen had seven digs.
Lee-Scott Academy 9-25-25-26, Northside Methodist 25-21-23-24
DOTHAN – The Warriors fought back from a 25-9 loss to capture the next three sets and defeat Northside Methodist on Monday.
Lee-Scott was led by sophomore Lillie Huff who had a team-high 14 kills and seven blocks. Her sister, senior middle blocker Mary Margaret Huff, followed suit with 10 kills and a pair of blocks. Junior setter Margaret Aldridge added 31 assists, a pair of aces and two kills.
The junior varsity (1-8) also had a hard-fought match before losing in the third set. The varsity (8-8) returned to action the following night against Glenwood.
