Alabama Christian clinched the top seed in area play on Thursday with a hard-fought victory over LAMP at home, beating the Golden Tigers 25-21, 25-16 and 25-23.

ACA (17-6) will serve as the top seed in the upcoming area tournament after improving to 5-1 in area play. LAMP (12-6) dropped to 2-2 in area play.

For Alabama Christian, Gracie Shaddix had 12 kills, Mary Vander Sewell had nine kills, Colden King had six kills and six blocks, Zoe Stiff had five kills and Emily Thornton had 31 assists.

For LAMP, Claire Conway had nine kills, Grace Hoffman had eight kills and seven digs, Alex Cyr had seven kills, four digs and one ace and Adiya Magee had six kills. Alexis Card added four kills, while Anika Clark had 27 assists and 11 digs. Caroline Baker had nine digs, Grace Longpre had seven and Samara Duerr had five digs and two assists.

LAMP will travel to Trinity on Tuesday.

Trinity 25-25-25, Pike Road 18-17-18

Trinity senior Lucy Williams had 11 kills, one ace and one block to lead Trinity to a sweep of Pike Road on Thursday in the Trinity gym.

Hollister Dorey had six kills and three blocks, Emma Beth Teel had nine kills, 15 assists, two blocks and one ace and Drue Walker had 33 digs and two aces for the Wildcats (17-14), who will host LAMP on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Cate Lovrich led Pike Road with six kills and freshman Gracie Branham had five kills and three blocks. Libero Jaeda Gardner had 10 digs for the Patriots.

Earlier this week, Pike Road beat Holtville 25-13 and 25-20 and Tallassee 25-14, 19-25 and 15-12. In the double header, Lovrich lead the way with 19 kills and Zen Robinson chipped in seven kills.

St. James 25-22-16-25-15, Brew Tech 19-25-25-23-7

St. James needed all five games to beat Brewbaker Tech on Thursady in a Class 5A Area 4 match, rallying from a two-game deficit with 25-23 and 15-7 wins to edge the Rams.

Carson Ann Crow had 17 kills, two blocks and 10 digs, Ashley White had 11 kills and one block and Emily Olsey had 10 kills, 16 assists, two aces, three blocks and 10 digs to lead the Trojans.

Merrily Capouya added four kills, one assist and eight digs, Bailey Williams has three kills, one assist, two aces, one block and 15 digs, Kathleen Wright had three kills, two blocks and one dig, Emily Poundstone had one kill, 22 assists and six digs and Allyn Browning has one kill, one assist, one ace and seven digs.

St. James (22-8) improved to 6-0 in area play and will face area foe Valley next Thursday at home at 4:30 p.m.
