When you been doing something a long time you know what feels right.
Macie Wilson did what felt right last week when she signed a softball scholarship with Huntingdon College. The Saint James pitcher has been playing softball since she was four years old and her choice of schools close to home helped to make the right decision much easier. “I am close to home. All of my family can come support and watch me play ball. I have never played a game without my parents being there and I want that to continue,” Wilson said.
Wilson’s dad, Steve, has been coaching her since she started playing and has been her driving force. The hard work appealed to Wilson and she believes that will not change once she gets to Huntingdon. “The coach runs the practices tough, organized. She works as hard as the players. I like Coach (Casey) Chrietzberg’s style. She expects a lot from her team and that’s what I want,” Wilson remarked. “Saint James really prepared me for the next level. Coach Hall makes sure we get our work in and I have teammates that help and pick you up when needed.”
Wilson will pursue a degree in elementary education. She participates in a program that assists challenged elementary school students at a local school and she is a Kindergarten Buddy at Saint James. Wilson also is in Bridge Builders, an organization where students from different schools are developed into leaders.
