PCA advances to South Super Regional with win over Opp

Prattville Christian defeated Opp to advance to the South Super Regional at Garrett Coliseum on Thursday.

OPP – Prattville Christian defeated Opp in straight sets, 25-20, 25-12 and 25-21, in a 3A sub-regional match in the Opp High gym on Saturday afternoon.

PCA (33-8) now advances to the South Super Regional and will face St. Luke’s (34-6) in the 3A quarterfinals on Thursday at 10 a.m. The winner advances to the semifinals and earns an automatic berth in the state tournament.

Last year, St. Luke’s reached the semifinals of the South Super Regional before losing to Montgomery Academy. Both PCA and St. Luke’s advanced to the state tournament, where PCA lost in the quarterfinals and St. Luke’s advanced to the semifinals before losing to Montgomery Academy.

For the Panthers, Lennon McAnnally had 11 kills, 12 digs and four aces, Hannah Jones had eight kills, a pair of digs and a block, Victoria Wheeler had five kills, five digs, three aces and six blocks, Coco Thomas had four kills, two digs and a pair of blocks, Dasha Dillard had four kills and four digs, Jamie Johnson had 14 assists, a kill and eight digs, Ella Jane Connell had 17 assists, four digs and an ace, Sally Swindall had a kill, a dig and three blocks, Emily Kamykowski had an assist, 11 digs and an ace and Sydney Jorgensen had eight digs and three aces.
