It was a roller coaster game with the LAMP boys defeating Montgomery Academy 70-62 in overtime. MA led 30-22 at the half and looked to be on its way to an easy win. The Golden Tigers came roaring back in the second half, stopped the Eagles offense while pouring in the points. The Eagles repeatedly missed short shots in the paint while LAMP was making good on free throw opportunities. LAMP hit 15 of 19 from the charity stripe in the second half and overtime combined. MA fought back as Ollie Bear hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime, but the Eagles shooting woes continued in the brief extra period. LAMP’s Micha Boone led all scorers with 35 points and Quinn Sloane contributed 15 to the LAMP total. Bear led MA with 20 points. Nate Meacham contributed 12 points and William Norrell scored 10 points. LAMP is 2-6 and MA is 0-2. “We didn’t play well in the first half but we shot well in the second half after we made some changes,” LAMP coach Marcus Townsend.

The Montgomery Academy girls walloped LAMP 61-23 in a game never in doubt. The aggressive Eagles had superb ball movement and penetrated the paint all night. “I’m very pleased,” MA head coach Barry Fencher said. “We are doing what we have worked on and I’m looking forward to the rest of the season." Leighton Robertson led all scorers with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Julia Williams poured in 9 points and also collected 6 rebounds. Madi Caddell and Margaret Head had 7 points each. Millie Stevenson had 6 points and Gabby Ramirez had 4 points. MA is 2-0 on the season. For LAMP Freshman Ashley Klein led the way with 5 points and Caitlin Russell chipped in 4 points.
