MONTEVALLO – LAMP weathered a tight second set by winning 25-11, 25-22 and 25-16, defeating Montevallo in a 4A sub-regional match on Saturday and advancing to the South Super Regional for the second consecutive year.

LAMP (20-9) will play Dora, which defeated Geneva in straight sets on Saturday, in the Super Regional quarterfinals on Friday at 10 a.m. A win will put the Golden Tigers in the quarterfinals, which carries an automatic berth in the state tournament.

Last year, LAMP advanced to the semifinals of the state tournament for the first time in school history before losing to eventual state champion Bayside Academy.

For the Golden Tigers, Olivia Hughes had 15 kills, three blocks and three digs, Grace Hoffman had seven kills, a pair of blocks, seven digs and 29 assists, Gracey Norris had seven kills, a block and two digs, Jailyn Dixon had six kills, a block, six digs and an assist, Lauren Bonikowski had two kills, a block, two digs and an assist, Kenady Manigo had a pair of kills and a dig, Claire Conway had a kill, Borden Lash had three digs and an assist, Anika Clark had seven digs and three assists, Annabel Baker had seven digs and an assist, Kolbi Bates had a pair of aces, three digs and two assists and Lexie Howard had a dig.
