PRATTVILLE -- Catholic took over first place in 3A Area 6 with a hard-fought win over Prattville Christian Academy in the PCA gym on Tuesday, defeating the Panthers 25-23, 26-24 and 25-16.

Lennon McAnnally had 12 kills, 19 passes, 12 digs and a block in her first area game against her old team, while Allyse Rudolph had 11 kills, 11 passes and six digs, Mally Barranco had 18 passes, 31 digs and an ace, Harper Howell had six kills and a pair of blocks and Julienne Pharrams had five kills and three blocks.

For the Panthers Jamie Johnson had 11 assists, five kills, an ace and five digs, Ella Jane Connell had eight assists and 15 digs, Naomi Taake had a kill, a pair of aces and 14 digs, Hannah Jones had 13 kills, two assists, 12 digs and four blocks and Coco Thomas had 13 kills and an assist. Avery Rogers had five assists and 11 digs, Emma Cate Carter had a pair of kills and a dig, Sally Swindall had a kill and Sydney Lee had an ace and three digs.

Tuesday’s match was the area opener for Catholic (26-5), which travels to Trinity for another area match on Thursday. Prattville Christian (15-5) dropped to 1-1 in area play, while Trinity is 0-1.
