St. James 60, Booker T. Washington 40

TUSKEGEE -- K.K. Hall connected on seven 3 pointers and finished with 25 points to hand head coach Katie Barton her 400th career victory in a 60-40 win in the Booker T. Washington gym on Thursday night.

St. James (12-5) improved to 2-0 in 4A Area 3 play, while B.T. Washington dropped to 0-1.

Barton has served as the Trojans’ head coach since 2001 and became the winningest coach in school history years ago, but achieved another milestone on Thursday with her 400th coaching victory. Barton (400-190) has never had a losing season at the school and added athletic director duties last May.

Ava Card added 19 points for the Trojans, followed by Danielle Greene and Natalie Barton with eight points each.

The Trojans host Alabama Christian Academy on Friday and BTW Magnet on Saturday before resuming play in Union Springs against Bullock County on Tuesday.

Brew Tech 42, Pike Road 31

PIKE ROAD -- Jazz Johnson had 13 points for the Patriots, who dropped a crucial 5A Area 5 game against the Rams on Thursday in the Pike Road gym.

Pike Road (13-7) dropped to 1-1 in area play, tied with Beauregard and a game behind Brew Tech (2-0). The Patriots play host to Tallassee in another Area 5 game on Friday.

Edgewood Academy 54, Hooper Academy 27

ELMORE -- Lindsey Brown scored 23 points in the first half to lead Edgewood to its fifth consecutive win with an area victory over the Colts in the Edgewood gym on Thursday night.

Brown had 10 points in the first quarter to help Edgewood to an 18-5 lead and added 13 points in the second quarter to give the Wildcats a 34-11 halftime lead in the battle between the two undefeated AA Region 1 Area 2 teams.

Brown finished with 27 points, followed by Madison Martin with eight.

Kaylee Midkiff led Hooper with eight points, followed by Ashbee Norman with seven. Raylee Midkiff had six points, including all four of Hooper’s points in the fourth quarter at the free-throw line.

Edgewood (15- 6) improved to 3-0 in area play heading into Tuesday’s area matchup at home against Autauga.

Hooper (9-8) dropped to 1-1 in area play and returns home to play Cornerstone in an area game on Tuesday before playing host to the Wildcats on Thursday.

Stanhope Elmore 76, Alabama Christian 49

MILLBROOK -- Jacey Haynes scored 31 points, grabbed 21 rebounds and blocked six shots to lead the Mustangs to a wild 76-49 win over the Eagles.

Stanhope Elmore (14-3) led 16-6 at the end of the first quarter, but the two teams combined to score 37 points in the second quarter as the Mustangs clung to a seven-point lead.

Haynes, who had 18 points through the first three quarters, added 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Stanhope Elmore pull away.

Summer Hicks added 20 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots and Ariel Gilchrist had 13 points, six steals and 11 assists.

Rachel Rine hit four 3 pointers and finished with 19 points to lead Alabama Christian, while Katelyn Sutton connected on five 3 pointers and had 17 points.

Stanhope Elmore traveled to Wetumpka for a 6A Area 5 game on Saturday before playing at Benjamin Russell on Tuesday.
