One who opposes government sponsorship of the Ten Commandments is not necessarily opposed to the Ten Commandments. A government with the authority to promote Christianity is a government with the authority to forbid Christianity. Separation of church and state not only keeps religion out of government but also keeps government out of religion. Freedom of religion means no religion is required or forbidden, because government is neutral. Let no person, no matter what his or her faith, be under the obligation to support anyone else’s religion. The way to protect our faith is to keep it from being a tool of whoever is in temporarily in power.
