Clinton Chadwell Carter

Clinton Chadwell Carter

February 25, 1967 – April 3, 2020

Clint is survived by his daughter Brannen and son Smith and their mother, Liz Carter and her husband Charles Polk; mother Nancy K. Carter and father Donald R. Carter, Johnson City TN; brother Casey Carter and wife Holly; uncle Paul Carter and wife Shirley; long time friend, like a brother and god parent to Clint’s children, John Shulman and his wife Amy. Clint was preceded in death by an uncle, Michael D. Query, Johnson City TN.

A proud native of Johnson City, Clint often returned with his children to visit family and friends, and share many memories of growing up in Seminole Woods, and attending University School and Liberty Bell. Clint was a 1985 honor graduate of Science Hill High School where he played football. Clint went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Political Science from Emory and Henry College followed by Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in Birmingham. He had his own law firm in Montgomery.

Clint was an extraordinary father, son, brother and friend. A man of integrity, he had a deep passion for friendship and spread his joy of music, literature, sports and kindness to all who knew him. Clint greeted everyone with a big genuine smile. He was often the smartest, funniest, and most gregarious and open-minded person in the room. He will be missed immeasurably.

Clint was laid to rest in a private graveside service on Friday, April 10, 2020 in historic Oakwood Cemetery, Montgomery. The service was officiated by Robert C. Wisnewski, Rector at St. John's Episcopal Church. An announcement will be forthcoming regarding a celebration of Clint’s life later in 2020. Memorials can be made to YMCA Camp Chandler, in care of Campers’ Scholarship Fund, PO Box 2336, Montgomery AL 36102.
