Montgomery Botanical Gardens Invites the Public to a Memorial Luminary Walk

The Montgomery Botanical Gardens Board of Directors is planning a COVID-19 Memorial Luminary Walk on Sunday, December 5, beginning at 4:00 PM at the Gardens located in Oak Park. The program will symbolically honor area residents who died from Covid-19 during 2020 and 2021.

The memorial will begin with a short program led by MBG President Dr. Tyna Davis, and will include representation from city and county officials and local clergy. Following the program, guests may walk around the Gardens among more than 700 luminaries which will represent lives lost over the past two years of the pandemic.

An opportunity will be provided for guests to place names of loved ones in the luminaries. Luminaries will remain lighted through December 8.

What is a Luminary?

The luminaries will remain from December 5 thru December 8, 2021. MBG is located in Oak Park at 1010 Forest Avenue, 36106 across from Jackson Hospital.

In case of rain the event will be cancelled.
