PIKE ROAD, Ala. – The Kiwanis Club of Pike Road has organized a Family Fun Run for Aug. 12 for runners and walkers of all ages.
The event will start at 6 p.m. at Sweet Creek Farm Market and extend 1.5 miles along Pike Road’s Natural Trail beside Meriwether Road. Then runners will return to Sweet Creek, Kiwanis member and run organizer Hardy Sellers said.
The fun run is not timed and is intended for everyone from small children to adults of all ages. Registration is $15 for children 12 and under and $25 for those 13 and above. Registration is available on the Facebook page for the Kiwanis Club of Pike Road. Registration is also available by going to active.com and searching for Pike Road Family Fun Run. All participants will receive a race t-shirt and snacks.
Sandy Cowen, incoming president of the Kiwanis Club, said proceeds from the fun run will benefit the libraries at the Pike Road Public Schools. “The primary focus of Kiwanis worldwide is enhancing the lives and well being of children. The Kiwanis Club of Pike Road has a goal and mission of helping children right here in our own community,” Cowen said.
Cowen said several sponsors helped the Kiwanis Club launch what the club hopes will be an annual event. The sponsors include: Montgomery MulitSport; Jackson Hospital and Clinics; Lowder New Homes; Mossy Oak Properties; Cucos Mexican Cafe; Dixie Electric Cooperative; Livings, Lambert, Duffee and Mackin; and Cara’s Tattoria.
