The Progressive Insurance office on Halcyon Summit Drive in Montgomery took part in the company's 10th annual “Keys to Progress” car giveaway program on November 10th by presenting a free car to an Alabama veteran.

Army veteran Danalea Kelly joined 100 veterans across the country in receiving the keys to a vehicle on the same day courtesy of Progressive Insurance and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. In addition to the vehicle the companies also presented Kelly with a gas card and Enterprise prepaid one year’s worth of insurance on the vehicle.

“Y'all have no idea what this means to me but it will be put to good use,” said Kelly, who was injured in combat. The minivan she received “will help me move around with my service dog and equipment,” she added.

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation approximately 40% of veterans live in rural areas where affordable transportation options are limited. This makes it necessary for them to travel great distances to receive medical care and access other services.

Now in its 10th year the Progressive “Keys to Progress'' program has given away 900 vehicles to veterans in every state including the 100 giving away on November 10th.

“Our “Keys to Progress” vehicle giveaway program is just one way that we celebrate our nation's veterans,” said Progressive CEO Tricia Griffith, “we look forward to continuing this program for many years.”

The “Keys to Progress” program began in 2013 and Progressive says it is their way of helping veterans like Kelly “get back on the road and move forward in life.”
