Katie Britt is up on the airwaves starting today with an ad campaign introducing the first time candidate to Alabama voters in the race for U.S. Senate.
While an unaffiliated Super PAC had run a flight of ads back in November, this represents the first television ads on behalf of the campaign. Another outside group purchased a host of billboard ads across the state last fall.
According to those familiar with the buy, the campaign plans to ramp up gradually starting with statewide radio and targeted cable and digital buys. The first week’s ad buy is around $100,000 and will go up from there, ADN is told.
In the ad, Britt talks about her faith, support for gun rights and belief that President Joe Biden has shown weakness in reversing former President Donald Trump’s border policies.
As of three months ago, Britt had outraised her opponents in the Republican-dominated field. Britt had raised $3.7 million and had $3.3 million on hand, according to Federal Election Commission’s latest reports at the end of September.
Congressman Mo Brooks, who came into the Senate race with campaign funds from his House contests, had raised $1.7 million and had $1.8 million on hand.
Jessica Taylor has raised $150,848 and has $82,509 cash on hand according to the latest reports.
Mike Durant, the newest entrant into the Senate race, ran a series of radio and television ads late last year, however the latest campaign finance reports do not show his spending and fundraising levels.
Year end reports for 2021 were due to the Federal Election Commission on Jan. 31.
